Eastern Shore Associates Support Fulton Block Builders for the 2022 season

Eastern Shore Associates is a 100% employee-owned, client-focused agency with over 80 insurance professionals operating from six branch offices throughout Central and Upstate New York. They work with over 30 insurance companies, giving them the ability to find the best solution to each of their customers' insurance needs. The employee-owners live and work in the same communities as their customers, and are dedicated to helping protect the homes, automobiles, and businesses of our neighbors. Supporting the FBB project is a natural for the entire Eastern Shore team.

Fulton Block Builders (FBB) is a local non-profit program that focuses investment in Fulton neighborhoods. For the past 5 years, FBB and its financial supporters have provided matching grants and related programs to improve the housing stock and streets in these neighborhoods. FBB provides neighborhood grants to clusters of residents who apply together to complete exterior improvements on their properties. As a result, Fulton has benefited from an almost 3-million-dollar investment by property owners.

When asked why, residents said, “once they got going, they couldn’t stop, everything was looking so nice in the neighborhood!” Many reported being inspired by what took place in the city since FBB started and wanted to keep the positive momentum going. Others said there is a real pride and change being demonstrated in the city and they wanted to be a part of something so good! And still others, just like last year, said they hadn’t noticed how poor their property was looking until now. FBB gave them the reason to notice and complete.

Fulton Block Builders Receives Support from Brookfield Renewable U.S.

Recently, Brookfield Renewable donated $5,500.00 to the Fulton Block Builders (FBB) program. Brookfield Renewable U.S., is a leading owner, operator, and developer of renewable power, delivering innovative renewable power solutions that accelerate the world towards a sustainable, low-carbon future. Their diversified portfolio of hydropower, wind, solar and storage facilities extend across 34 states, including Fulton, New York.

“It is a pleasure to once again be able to collaborate with Fulton Block Builders. As partners in this community Brookfield supports the Block Builders mission and is proud to contribute to a project that makes a difference in the lives of a new group of families every year,” said Mark Luciano, Brookfield representative.

“Since FBB’s start in 2017, FBB has awarded 1,035 Block Challenge, Paint Fulton, and Pride Grants” said Linda Eagan, FBB Director. “2021 was another fantastic year for the FBB program. Thirty-two blocks were awarded Block Challenge Grants and Pride Grants, with FBB supporting 236 properties spread throughout the six wards of the city. Nearly 700 thousand dollars was invested in Fulton’s participating properties! For every dollar invested by FBB, property owners invested four times that amount.”

Businesses and individuals can become part of this exciting time in Fulton’s history by donating to the 2022 campaign. Every dollar donated is matched 2-to-1 by the Richard S. Shineman Foundation. All donations are tax deductible and, since FBB is entirely volunteer run, all financial support goes directly to the Block Challenge grants and promotion of the program!

Pathfinder Bank is the largest corporate sponsor of the Fulton Block Builder program for the 6th year in a row

“Pathfinder Bank has donated $15,000 to the Fulton Block Builders (FBB) making Pathfinder the largest corporate sponsor of FBB for the sixth year in a row. The Pathfinder support and donation are indispensable in helping us to meet our 2022 goal. The city is on fire with community participation and activism” said Linda Eagan, FBB Administrative Director.  “Fundraising for the 2022 is going well and we are thankful to all who have donated.” continued Eagan.

Fulton Block Builders is an all-volunteer grass roots organization dedicated to community revitalization one block at a time. If FBB has a successful fundraising campaign, the Richard S. Shineman Foundation has committed $125,000 to the Fulton Block Builder program. All of these funds will be used to provide FBB Block Challenge, Pride and Paint Fulton grants.

Recently, Angelina Baker and Karie Whitten Compass Credit Union - Member Service Representatives, presented Fulton Block Builders (FBB) Committee member, Chris Weaver with a check for $250 to support FBB’s community revitalization grant program. “If you’re looking for credit unions in Fulton, NY, Compass Federal Credit Union is pointing the way to better tomorrows. As your credit union, we’re owned by account holders and loan recipients like you. That means that our goal is to best serve you,” said Whitten.

“Compass Federal Credit Union has been open since 1966. The credit union has assets totaling $85.83 Million and provides banking services to more than 7,000 members. The credit union is a community-based financial institution. People living, working, or worshipping in the credit union's geographic area can become a member and access banking services. Membership is also open to immediate family of current members.,” Baker continued. “Therefore, Compass is proud to support this program.

FBB is starting the sixth year of the program and Compass can see a dramatic change in the look and attitude around the city. Furthermore, this $250 donation will be compounded by the 2-to-1 match from the Richard S Shineman Foundation and the 4-to-1 match made by the participating residents. That’s a win-win-win!”

“In the five short years FBB has been in existence, Fulton residents’ confidence has grown so quickly that by 2021 residents have invested $2.67 million in their properties and families are once again choosing Fulton as a place to live, work, and play,” said Weaver. “FBB approved 32 blocks and 236 properties for grants in 2021. Since its start in 2017, FBB has awarded 1,035 matching grants.”

Support continues to grow for the Fulton Block Builders

Oswego County Federal Credit Union’s (FCU), Kristin Elkin, Fulton Branch Manager recently presented Linda Eagan with a check for $2,500 for the Fulton Block Builder (FBB) project. “Oswego County Federal Credit Union is proud to be a Corporate Sponsor of this transformative initiative and thanks all those involved for their continued enthusiasm and hard work!” Elkin said.

“FBB is a program that generates neighborhood pride and helps homeowners and property owners recover part of the cost of their exterior property investment,” Elkin added. “At Oswego County FCU, the credit union motto of ‘People Helping People’ is not some fancy slogan; it’s something we believe in and practice every day! Supporting the Block Builder movement is a perfect partnership for us.”

Founded in 1975, Oswego County FCU is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative association dedicated to providing quality financial products and services delivered in a professional, courteous, and timely manner. They currently serve the financial needs of approximately 12,500 members from throughout Oswego County. “Those who live, work, worship, or attend school in Oswego County, are eligible to join the Oswego County FCU’s family” shared Elkin.

Fulton Savings Bank Pledges Corporate Support for Fulton Block Builders

As the Fulton Block Builder (FBB) program continues its Fundraising Campaign, businesses and individuals have again been showing their ongoing support. Recently, one of the city’s oldest financial institutions, Fulton Savings Bank, again stepped up to help assure FBB’s success.

According to Fulton Savings Banks’ historical archives, in 1871, a group of civic leaders organized Fulton Savings Bank “to receive deposits from tradesmen, clerks, mechanics, laborers, minors, servants and others.”  The first bank location was in a rented room at the northeast corner of Second and Oneida Streets.  Since then, Fulton Savings Bank has been serving the greater Fulton community and continues to Build Trust for Generations.

Phoenix’s Sweet-Woods Memorial Shows Support for Fulton Block Builders

Fulton Block Builders (FBB) has been receiving strong support from within the Fulton city limits, but for the sixth year in a row, business support has also come from outside of the city with a donation from Sweet-Woods Memorial Co. in Phoenix. Recently, Dennis Goss, owner/operator of Sweet-Woods Memorial presented Linda Eagan with a check for the Fulton Block Builder project.

“I am honored to support the Block Builder program,” Goss said. “The work that this group has been able to accomplish is outstanding! I believe the potential for year six will continue far exceed expectations. There is a lot to be proud of! I encourage businesses and individuals to learn all they can and support this momentum!”
