“Pathfinder Bank has donated $15,000 to the Fulton Block Builders (FBB) making Pathfinder the largest corporate sponsor of FBB for the sixth year in a row. The Pathfinder support and donation are indispensable in helping us to meet our 2022 goal. The city is on fire with community participation and activism” said Linda Eagan, FBB Administrative Director.  “Fundraising for the 2022 is going well and we are thankful to all who have donated.” continued Eagan.

Fulton Block Builders is an all-volunteer grass roots organization dedicated to community revitalization one block at a time. If FBB has a successful fundraising campaign, the Richard S. Shineman Foundation has committed $125,000 to the Fulton Block Builder program. All of these funds will be used to provide FBB Block Challenge, Pride and Paint Fulton grants.

Compass Credit Union Support Fulton Block Builders

Recently, Angelina Baker and Karie Whitten Compass Credit Union - Member Service Representatives, presented Fulton Block Builders (FBB) Committee member, Chris Weaver with a check for $250 to support FBB’s community revitalization grant program. “If you’re looking for credit unions in Fulton, NY, Compass Federal Credit Union is pointing the way to better tomorrows. As your credit union, we’re owned by account holders and loan recipients like you. That means that our goal is to best serve you,” said Whitten.

“Compass Federal Credit Union has been open since 1966. The credit union has assets totaling $85.83 Million and provides banking services to more than 7,000 members. The credit union is a community-based financial institution. People living, working, or worshipping in the credit union's geographic area can become a member and access banking services. Membership is also open to immediate family of current members.,” Baker continued. “Therefore, Compass is proud to support this program.

FBB is starting the sixth year of the program and Compass can see a dramatic change in the look and attitude around the city. Furthermore, this $250 donation will be compounded by the 2-to-1 match from the Richard S Shineman Foundation and the 4-to-1 match made by the participating residents. That’s a win-win-win!”

“In the five short years FBB has been in existence, Fulton residents’ confidence has grown so quickly that by 2021 residents have invested $2.67 million in their properties and families are once again choosing Fulton as a place to live, work, and play,” said Weaver. “FBB approved 32 blocks and 236 properties for grants in 2021. Since its start in 2017, FBB has awarded 1,035 matching grants.”

Support continues to grow for the Fulton Block Builders

Oswego County Federal Credit Union’s (FCU), Kristin Elkin, Fulton Branch Manager recently presented Linda Eagan with a check for $2,500 for the Fulton Block Builder (FBB) project. “Oswego County Federal Credit Union is proud to be a Corporate Sponsor of this transformative initiative and thanks all those involved for their continued enthusiasm and hard work!” Elkin said.

“FBB is a program that generates neighborhood pride and helps homeowners and property owners recover part of the cost of their exterior property investment,” Elkin added. “At Oswego County FCU, the credit union motto of ‘People Helping People’ is not some fancy slogan; it’s something we believe in and practice every day! Supporting the Block Builder movement is a perfect partnership for us.”

Founded in 1975, Oswego County FCU is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative association dedicated to providing quality financial products and services delivered in a professional, courteous, and timely manner. They currently serve the financial needs of approximately 12,500 members from throughout Oswego County. “Those who live, work, worship, or attend school in Oswego County, are eligible to join the Oswego County FCU’s family” shared Elkin.

Fulton Savings Bank Pledges Corporate Support for Fulton Block Builders

As the Fulton Block Builder (FBB) program continues its Fundraising Campaign, businesses and individuals have again been showing their ongoing support. Recently, one of the city’s oldest financial institutions, Fulton Savings Bank, again stepped up to help assure FBB’s success.

According to Fulton Savings Banks’ historical archives, in 1871, a group of civic leaders organized Fulton Savings Bank “to receive deposits from tradesmen, clerks, mechanics, laborers, minors, servants and others.”  The first bank location was in a rented room at the northeast corner of Second and Oneida Streets.  Since then, Fulton Savings Bank has been serving the greater Fulton community and continues to Build Trust for Generations.

Phoenix’s Sweet-Woods Memorial Shows Support for Fulton Block Builders

Fulton Block Builders (FBB) has been receiving strong support from within the Fulton city limits, but for the sixth year in a row, business support has also come from outside of the city with a donation from Sweet-Woods Memorial Co. in Phoenix. Recently, Dennis Goss, owner/operator of Sweet-Woods Memorial presented Linda Eagan with a check for the Fulton Block Builder project.

“I am honored to support the Block Builder program,” Goss said. “The work that this group has been able to accomplish is outstanding! I believe the potential for year six will continue far exceed expectations. There is a lot to be proud of! I encourage businesses and individuals to learn all they can and support this momentum!”

Community Bank N.A has once again donated $5,000.00 to the Fulton Block Builders (FBB) program.

“FBB is thrilled to have the continued support of Community Bank,” said Linda Eagan, FBB Administrative Director. “This year, the fundraising committee seeks to raise $50,000 in order to realize the full Richard S. Shineman Foundation matching grant. Community Bank’s support of this program is greatly appreciated.

“FBB is making significant differences in our community,” Eagan continued. “In 2021, there was nearly 700K invested in Fulton’s participating properties! For every dollar invested by Fulton Block Builders, property owners invested four times that amount.”

“This is the 6th year Community Bank has donated to the Fulton Block Builders program and we’re honored to support them,” said Kayla Baker, Fulton Branch Manager. “Their neighborhood revitalization program is an important initiative that builds the Fulton community now and for the future.”

The FBB Block Challenge application process encourages groups of neighbors to collaborate, build confidence in Fulton’s neighborhoods and inspire others to reinvest. FBB does not approach groups and ask them to apply. Deciding to submit an application is a neighborhood decision.
